Scorpios in the House

November 23, 2009

Several of my friends and I had birthdays this month. Mine was November 16th, but really celebrated all week long, which of course I didLauraMakIn Fontn’t mind. It was the one before the really big one, HA – nope, not telling if you don’t already know.   :)

It started with a stimulating EARLY morning adventure over to West Hollywood, my dear friend Jimmy Choo, some weakened Trojans, followed by romance and Jazz.

LauraMakJimmyChooI am very lucky to have such an amazing friend willing to volunteer to get up before the crack of dawn to wait in line for a fantastic deal. Jimmy Choo created a line of shoes, handbags, clothing and accessories for H&M. It was a limited time and offered only at a few select stores. I scoped out the scene on Friday to see if we really had to get up early to wait in line or if it was just “hype” – yes, we definitely had to wait in line, early. So Jen and I arrived in line at 5am, with our coffee, snacks, blankets, and Taboo (we had to have a fun game to play to pass the time). The funny part was we were really giddy at that time and another woman in line reminded us we had five more hours til the store opened. I looked at Jen and said, “She has no idea that this is my prime time, my height of energy, and I even have a little extra enthusiasm this morning for the cause!”  LauraMak Jimmy Choo Cards

After 4 hours of Taboo playing guessing words we received a wrist band to enter the store in groups of 20. There was a small roped off section with the Jimmy Choo shoes, accessories and handbags. Each group had exactly ten minutes, (yes that was not a typo – ten minutes) top shop for what they wanted. The clothing was mixed in with other items in the store (I personally wasn’t too impressed with the clothing). LauraMak Happy

When it was our turn to enter the 30x30ft area, we made a game plan. I would leap over the boxes to the shoes I wanted and Jen could use her wingspan to grab to other pairs. It worked – we had a successful mission – Jimmy Choo shoes and accessories. It was exhilarating, stimulating, and thrilling. LauraMak JimmyChoo Shoe

We high tailed it downtown to the USC Trojan football game, which is normally a blast, but they had their worst lost ever in Trojan football history. Enough said.

After a power nap we headed over to the well-known jazz restaurant Vibrato. We enjoyed the four piece jazz band and amazing food. A wonderful finale to a fabulous day

Monday was my actual birthday. I enjoyed a great workout, spent lunch with a girlfriend, and met more friends that evening.

LauraMak and GangSmThis past Saturday we met for several Scorpio and Libra birthdays. We enjoyed our photographer, Shannon, who took all the fun photos. We certainly had a blast with lots of giggles, stories and fun times.
